Gamma vs Beautiful.ai: Which AI Deck Tool Fits?

Pick Gamma for a fast first draft from a prompt, and Beautiful.ai for a team that wants a locked, consistent look across many decks. This page compares them on pricing, AI limits, PowerPoint export and security, from each vendor's own pages.

Disclosure: Oria publishes this page and makes an AI add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint, one of the tools compared here.

The decision behind a Gamma vs Beautiful.ai search is rarely about which company is better. It is about what happens after the first draft: do you want the fastest start from a prompt and are happy to tidy afterwards, or a stricter system that keeps every slide on one look as the deck grows? Both tools generate decks with AI, both export to PowerPoint, and both are aimed at everyday presentations rather than dense consulting exhibits.

They differ in how they meter AI, how they handle design rules, and what each vendor documents about security. The sections below keep to facts the vendors publish, name the source for every number, and say where each tool is the wrong choice.

Quick answer: Gamma or Beautiful.ai?

Choose Gamma when speed from a blank prompt matters most and you accept credit-metered AI. Choose Beautiful.ai when a team needs shared brand control, a large layout library and per-seat pricing with unlimited AI content generation. If the deck is a board pack on an exact corporate template, neither is the closest fit.

In short: Gamma is the quicker way to get a draft out of a prompt, and its help center documents credits, a PPTX export path and its known export limits. Beautiful.ai is the steadier way to keep many slides consistent, with more than 300 Smart Slide layouts, a 14-day trial and a documented SOC 2 Type II certification. Both export to PowerPoint, so neither locks you in. Decide on workflow first, price second, and check security with the vendor if the content is sensitive.

How we compared Gamma and Beautiful.ai

Vendor documentation only. Every price, credit and security statement comes from a vendor page opened on October 24, 2026, listed under Sources. Where a page was blocked or silent, we say so instead of filling the gap.

Export behaviour. Whether a deck leaves the tool as an editable PowerPoint file, and what the vendor itself says is lost on the way.

How AI use is metered. Credits against per-seat access, because that decides what a heavy month costs.

Security statements. What each vendor publishes about certification, retention and model training, stated as claims, not verified audits.

What we ignored. Template counts as a quality signal, animation, stock imagery and user-review scores. None of them predicts whether the deck survives its audience, and this page carries no scores of its own.

Key takeaways

  • How AI is paid for differs. Gamma meters AI actions in credits, with 400 non-refreshing credits on Free and 1,000 a month on Plus. Beautiful.ai lists unlimited AI content generation on Pro. A heavy user should price both ways.
  • Both reach PowerPoint, with caveats. Gamma documents a PPTX export with editable tables and a list of known losses. Beautiful.ai lists PowerPoint import and export on Pro and Team.
  • Consistency favours Beautiful.ai. It offers custom branding and themes on Pro, and a centralized slide and template library on Team. Gamma's draft speed is the counterweight.
  • Security claims are not equal in detail. Beautiful.ai publishes SOC 2 Type II, a no-training statement and a 30-day retention cap. Gamma points to SOC 2 documentation on Business. Ask for the report either way.
  • Neither is built for an uploaded corporate master. Strict-template board work is a separate job, covered in the routing section below.

Is Gamma the right AI deck tool for you?

Gamma generates a deck, document or page from a prompt, then lets you edit with an AI Agent or by hand. Its credit system is the part to understand before you commit. Gamma's help center says new users get 400 credits at signup that do not refresh, and that creating presentations, editing with the Agent, trying new layouts and generating images all use credits. Manual edits do not. The same page says you are not charged when an AI action fails or asks a clarifying question.

For PowerPoint, the help center's export article says to choose Share, then Export, then PPTX. Tables export as real editable tables by default. It also lists losses: gradient headings may show as a single colour, the slide master appears blank, and only regular and bold weights of your theme fonts are embedded. Free-plan exports include a Made by Gamma badge. None of that is disqualifying, but it means a Gamma export usually needs a pass in PowerPoint before it goes to a client.

Gamma's own pricing page returned an access error when we tried to open it, so we quote no Gamma dollar prices here. Check gamma.app/pricing for current plan costs.

The trade-off: the quickest route from prompt to draft, paid for in credits and in a cleanup pass once the file is in PowerPoint.

Is Beautiful.ai the right AI deck tool for you?

Beautiful.ai is built around Smart Slides that adjust spacing and alignment as you add content. Its pricing page lists more than 300 Smart Slide layouts, unlimited AI content generation, custom branding and themes, and dynamic data visualizations on Pro. Team adds real-time collaboration, a centralized slide and template library, version control and live data linking. Enterprise adds SSO, SCIM provisioning and audit logs.

Prices on the same page: Pro is 14.50 dollars a month billed annually, with a one-time monthly option at 45 dollars. Team is 40 dollars per user a month billed annually or 50 dollars billed monthly, for 2 to 20 members. Both carry a 14-day trial that requires a card and charges automatically unless cancelled. The page also shows an inconsistency, saying the Team card includes 3 users while the plan text says 2 to 20, so confirm minimums at purchase.

On security, the vendor's security page states SOC 2 Type II certification renewed annually, that data will not train public LLMs, and that data sent to business-tier generative AI APIs is retained for a maximum of 30 days. It also says generative AI integrations can be disabled for a company account on request.

The trade-off: strong consistency and clear security statements, in exchange for working inside Beautiful.ai's own layout system rather than free-form prompt-to-page generation.

Where does Oria fit next to Gamma and Beautiful.ai?

Oria is built for a different job than either tool above: corporate documents and consulting presentations, such as board packs, steering committee decks, diligence exhibits and dense frameworks held to an enforced corporate template. It reaches you as a PowerPoint add-in on Windows, macOS and the web, and as a connector for Claude and ChatGPT over MCP, so a deck can be built from the chat you already use. Setup is in our Claude and ChatGPT install guide.

Because Oria is built for the corporate environment only, it loses on highly visual work: founder fundraising and pitch decks, launch and campaign decks, student presentations and marketing one-pagers. Gamma and Beautiful.ai will look better doing that work, and you should use them for it. On data, Oria does not train on customer content, Professional and Team do not persist presentation content after delivery, and Enterprise adds private cloud deployment and custom LLM integration.

The trade-off: native, template-bound corporate slides, and no advantage on visual or fundraising decks.

Frequently asked questions

Is Gamma better than Beautiful.ai?

Neither wins on every deck. Gamma suits a fast first draft from a prompt, including web-style pages and documents, and it meters AI use in credits. Beautiful.ai suits a team that wants a locked brand look and a library of more than 300 Smart Slide layouts, sold per seat with unlimited AI content generation on its Pro plan. Pick on how you work and what the deck must survive, not on a general ranking.

Can Gamma export to PowerPoint?

Yes. Gamma's help center says to choose Share, then Export, then PPTX. Tables export as real editable tables by default. It also lists limits: gradient headings may show as a single colour, the slide master appears blank, and only regular and bold font weights are embedded. Free-plan exports carry a Made by Gamma badge.

Can Beautiful.ai export to PowerPoint?

Yes. Beautiful.ai's pricing page lists PowerPoint import and export on its Pro and Team plans. Its comparison table does not show per-tier checkmarks, so confirm Enterprise export with the vendor before you rely on it.

How much does Beautiful.ai cost?

Beautiful.ai's pricing page lists Pro at 14.50 dollars a month billed annually, or 45 dollars for a one-time monthly option. Team is 40 dollars per user a month billed annually or 50 dollars billed monthly, for 2 to 20 seats. Enterprise is quoted. Pro and Team carry a 14-day trial that needs a card. Checked on October 24, 2026.

How do Gamma credits work?

Gamma's help center says new accounts get 400 credits that do not refresh, and paid plans refill monthly, with Plus at 1,000 credits a month. Creating a presentation, editing with the Agent, trying new layouts and generating images all use credits. Manual edits do not, and failed AI actions are not charged.

Which is safer for confidential decks, Gamma or Beautiful.ai?

Beautiful.ai states on its security page that it holds SOC 2 Type II certification renewed annually, that data will not train public LLMs, and that data sent to business-tier generative AI APIs is retained for at most 30 days. Gamma's help center lists SOC 2 documentation and a locked training opt-out on its Business plan. Ask either vendor for its current report before sending client material.

What should I use if the deck must sit on a strict corporate template?

Neither tool is built around an uploaded corporate master file. Gamma and Beautiful.ai both work from their own theme systems. For board packs and diligence exhibits on an exact template, a PowerPoint-native tool such as Oria is the closer fit, while visual decks stay better served by the two tools compared here.
