Claude PowerPoint Skill: How to Get Design-Grade Slides

Default Claude writes great content. The slides still look AI-generated. The Claude PowerPoint skill on this page is a free Skill file that replaces that output with slides which hold up in a management room.

What this Skill is

Anthropic recently released Skills for Claude. We built a Claude PowerPoint skill that turns Claude's slides into consulting-style design, for free.

Default Claude writes great content. The slides still look AI-generated: text in boxes, no hierarchy, nothing that holds up when you put it in front of a CEO. This Skill replaces that output with the kind of work that usually takes a designer days.

What it can do

  • Turn rough ideas into professionally designed slides
  • Significantly improve the design of slides you already have
  • Convert photos of your sketches into proper, polished slides
  • Switch between different design styles depending on the audience and context

Setup guide

Step 1

Download the Skill

You will drop it into a Claude project in the next steps.

Step 2

Install A Design Rendering Engine For Slides

The Skill writes design instructions; a separate rendering engine turns them into finished PowerPoint slides. Click the button below to install Oria into Claude on mobile or desktop, or open the PowerPoint add-in directly on Mac or Windows, authorize the install if prompted, and complete the quick one-minute sign-up. For the full connector walkthrough with screenshots, see how to install Oria in Claude and ChatGPT.

Step 4

Activate the Skill in Claude

Open a new conversation inside the project. Reference the Skill explicitly in your prompt, for example, "Use Oria skill" so Claude loads it before producing the slide.

Step 5

Generate the slide in PowerPoint

Paste your content (rough ideas, a slide you already have, or a sketch) into Claude. Claude returns design instructions in the Skill's format. Open PowerPoint, paste those instructions into Oria, click Text to Slide, then select the slide design you like. It will be added to your deck as a fully editable PowerPoint slide.

What else this design tool can do

The Skill plugs into Claude, but the underlying design engine lives inside PowerPoint. Once Oria is installed, you can use it directly without going through Claude.

Example 1

Improve a slide you already have

Drop in a slide that already has the right content but the wrong design. The tool returns the same content with proper hierarchy, balanced spacing, and a layout the audience actually reads.

Example 2

Turn rough ideas into a slide

Type the point you want to make. The tool builds the supporting structure (issue tree, 2x2, waterfall, journey, whatever fits) and renders it as a finished slide.

Example 3

Convert sketches into slides

Take a photo of a whiteboard or a notebook page. The tool reads the layout you drew and produces a polished version in PowerPoint, with real shapes, real type, and real alignment.

The same Skill is one piece of a wider set. If you want the full PowerPoint workflow rather than the design layer alone, read how to use Claude in PowerPoint. For board work specifically there are 25 deck skills for boardroom strategy, and for charts, the Claude dataviz skill set.

Frequently asked questions

Can Claude make PowerPoint slides?

Yes. Claude writes strong slide content out of the box, and the free Skill on this page adds the design layer, so what comes back is a set of structured design instructions rather than text in boxes. A rendering engine, Oria, then turns those instructions into a finished PowerPoint slide inside your deck. The setup guide above covers both pieces.

How do I install the Claude PowerPoint skill?

Download the Skill file from the setup guide above, then open Claude, click Customize in the left sidebar, go to the Skills tab, click the plus button, and choose Create skill, then Upload a skill. Select the file you just downloaded. Install Oria in PowerPoint as well, so the design instructions Claude writes have something to render into.

Is the Claude PowerPoint skill free?

Yes. The Skill file downloads free from this page, with no login and no account needed, and you upload it straight into Claude. Rendering those design instructions into finished slides needs Oria installed in PowerPoint, and this page carries a promo code worth 20 percent off an Oria subscription.

Are the slides real PowerPoint objects or flat images?

They are native, fully editable PowerPoint slides. Oria adds the generated slide to the deck you already have open, built from real shapes and real text boxes, so you can move an element, change a number, or restyle the type without regenerating anything. Nothing arrives as a pasted screenshot.

Can the skill use my own PowerPoint template?

The Skill carries the design method rather than your brand assets. Because every slide arrives as native editable PowerPoint objects, you can drop it onto your own template and restyle the fonts, colors, and logo in place. When Oria offers you several design options, start from the one closest to your house style.

How do I get Claude to actually use the skill?

Name it in your prompt. Open a conversation inside the project where the Skill is installed and write something like "Use Oria skill" alongside your request, so Claude loads it before producing the slide. Without that reference Claude usually falls back to its default behavior and the design instructions never appear.

Can it build a whole deck, or one slide at a time?

The flow on this page works one slide at a time, and each slide lands in the deck you already have open. That matches how most decks actually get built, one exhibit at a time and under review. Paste the content for the next slide, click Text to Slide, and pick the design you want.

Do I need Claude, or can I work inside PowerPoint?

You can do either. The Skill plugs the design method into Claude, but the design engine itself lives inside PowerPoint. Once Oria is installed you can improve a slide you already have, turn rough notes into a slide, or convert a photo of a sketch into a real one without opening Claude at all.
